No Watching Porn at Starbucks or McDonald’s

watching porn

When looking for wifi during our travels, Kim and I used to seek out McDonald’s. They were usually a reliable place to go if we wanted to get online. In recent years I’ve found McDonald’s wifi to not be as consistent with many locations not even offering free wifi.

Another place to stop in for free wifi is Starbucks, although I can’t recall ever going there to get online. (I also don’t drink coffee so why would I!)

However, both McDonald’s and Starbucks have put their foot down recently with how some customers use the free wifi.

McDonald’s and Starbucks are both telling people that there will be no watching porn on their wifi!

Who knew that this was even an issue for the two companies? I can’t say that I’d ever expect it.

McDonald’s started using a filter to block porn a couple of months back, according to Grub Street. This comes around two years after advocacy group Enough is Enough started pressuring McDonald’s to “block family unfriendly websites“.

Starbucks was also contacted by Enough is Enough who “reminded people that Starbucks hadn’t complied yet, either, despite two years of requests”, according to Grub Street

Starbucks never responded but recently told CNNMoney that “the time for filtering has come: “Once we determine that our customers can access our free Wi-Fi in a way that also doesn’t involuntarily block unintended content, we will implement this in our stores“.

I still can’t believe that people would visit McDonald’s or Starbucks and then use the free wifi to watch porn!

  1. i’m pretty sure that the only people who go to Starbucks or McDonald’s to surf porn are people from these “family-friendly” organizations …
