Budget Travel Tip: Save Money, Visit the Hotel Fitness Center

Hotel Fitness Center

It’s safe to say that the majority of you love to save money when traveling and in everyday life. I know I’m constantly looking for ways to save money, get a deal or earn a sweet bonus of miles/ points or cash back.

If you’re looking for an easy way to save some money on your next trip, I’d recommend that you continue reading.

While I pretty much never workout or hit the gym during our travels, I tend to find myself visiting the hotel fitness center multiple times during a stay.

You’re probably wondering why?

I hate wasting money buying bottled water and never do so at home. (Kim and I always fill up our SIGG, Klean Kanteen or other water bottle to bring along with us.)

However, in many countries we visit, tap water is usually not safe to drink. ThereĀ aren’t many options other than buying bottled water. Here is a way you can save yourself from buying water to start off your day and when you get back to your hotel.

All you need to do is visit the hotel fitness center!

Hotel Fitness Center

Most decent hotels have a fitness center with some machines and weights. They also have a money-saving amenity called the water cooler!

Bring an empty bottle or 3 along, stop in and fill up. Those bottles should save you from having to waste your money on bottled water for at least part of the day! When you return to your hotel, visit again and refill. (It’s also good for the environment.)

Kim and I do this all of the time. Some hotels even have small bottles of water and fresh fruit (mainly apples) in their fitness center!

Do you ever visit the hotel fitness center to fill up your water bottle?

  1. If you ever visited fitness centers present in Indian hotels, you probably would see a statement ‘Please don’t fill your water bottles’ right next to the cooler. šŸ™‚
