Parents In Biz-Kids In Coach, Baby Born On Flight, Man’s Flown 16,000,000 Miles, Cruise Living For $164K, Miss America, Etihad Residence & More- The Rehash

Rehash

At the end of this week we’ll be leaving on our first trip of the new year so it was about time that I finally finished getting all of the details worked out.

It was also a good week for manufactured spend, something I haven’t done in quite some time. I loaded my Amex Target REDcard a couple of times in the past few days and boy was it a breeze! (I need to thank the people who helped me get a REDcard since it is not available in the NYC area. It’s definitely much appreciated.)

Otherwise, I’ve been working on more planning for the other trips already in the works for 2015. How did your week go when it comes to miles, points and travel?

And now it’s time to look at some posts from this past week in a recap that I like to call The Rehash!

Here is a very interesting topic that is bound to have all sorts of opinions- Should parents fly biz class and have kids sit in coach? I think it really depends on the situation and age of the kids.

I was a bit surprised at the Poll Results: Is Uber Surge Pricing fair?

This is probably the least of the worries for France but a sad reality which does affect many people… Terrorism In Paris= Less tourists

If you aren’t sure where to go in 2015 you might want to consider the Best places to find a travel bargain.

This isn’t all too surprising- Super Bowl: Flights being added + prices rising, This will actually be the first year I can remember that I won’t be watching the game. We’ll be flying home from a trip. Oh well, not the biggest deal to me.

This worked like a charm as my $200 Amex Platinum airline fee credits posted.

Earlier in the week there were amazing JetBlue $32 fares from NYC. It was a blessing in disguise that the dates the deals were valid for did not work for my schedule. I read and heard about tons of issues with the offer. Some people got to the final booking page just for the site to crash or tell them to search again… Sometimes it’s best not to waste your time chasing a deal.

Signing up for a loyalty program should take a minute or two but this isn’t always the case when registering a kid. Find out- How long does it take: register a kid for JetBlue TrueBlue.

A very interesting story and question about citizenship when a Baby was born on flight from Jordan to New York.

Talk about an incredible story about customer service. Ritz Carlton encourages employees- spend up to $2000 to solve guests issues.

Last week I wrote about Etihad’s The Residence coming to The NY Times Travel Show. Check out my experience Meeting Miss America & Visiting Etihad’s The Residence at the show.

What would you consider traveling or being the most traveled? Is it flying the most, seeing the most countries etc… Find out about Most Traveled People: man has flown 16,000,000 miles.

How do you want to live when you retire? Find out about the 86-year-old that spends $164,000 a year to live on cruise ship.

I hope that everyone has a great. Make sure to keep checking back for daily new posts here at Michael W Travels!

  1. R- I think it is ok for teens to fly alone but it also depends on the kid. A 16 year old and up should have no issue but what about a 13 year old? I feel that would depend on each individual.
BTW- I had to edit your comment due to the language used hence the @#$%^$^#…

  2. It’s perfectly fine to have teenagers fly in economy, or even younger children if accompanied by an older teen. I’m buffaloed that anyone would think that would be a problem. What’s so different about being cooped up in a pressurized tube than in a much more dangerous passenger vehicle? You let kids loose on the road at 16 behind a 2-3 ton vehicle, while texting, putting on makeup, giving @#$%^$^#…

If my parents could have afforded it, they would have sat up front every time, regardless of our age.
