Cheers! Delta Adds More In-Flight Craft Beer Options

When it comes to Delta Airlines, on an almost daily basis all I seem to hear is bad news…

I haven’t been on top of all of the upcoming negative changes since I am not a mileage runner and I also don’t have loyalty to Delta. However, if I fly on a revenue flight with Delta in the future it sure will be a pain if miles earned from flying goes down. (To stay up to date on the latest Delta news make sure to check out fellow BoardingArea blogger Rene’s Delta Points.)

However, if you happen to be a beer lover, here is some great news.

Delta added seven new craft breweries to their in-flight beer selections!

Here are the new craft breweries being offered:

  • Ballast Point Brewing Company- San Diego
  • Blue Point Brewing Company- Long Island, NY
  • Brooklyn Brewery- Brooklyn, NY
  • Lagunitas Brewing Company- Petaluma, CA
  • Newburyport Brewing Company- Newburyport, MA
  • Samuel Adams- Boston
  • Stone Brewing Company- Escondido, CA

These additons will “give all customers on routes within the US a craft beer option” according to Delta News.

They join Atlanta’s Sweetwater Brewing Company to now offer beers from eight craft breweries.

Now I wouldn’t exactly call Sam Adams a craft brewery anymore but they do put out some really tasty beers. If you happen to be in Boston, I’d highly recommend visiting their brewery for a brief tour and generous tasting.

Blue Point is another interesting choice. It was acquired by Anheuser-Busch earlier in the year. I’ve had some of their beers in the past but don’t recall whether or not I cared much for them.

It was also pretty cool to see Brooklyn Brewery get selected by Delta. I’m actually not a fan of their beers but it is from my hometown so good for them.

Here are a few craft breweries that I’d love to see offered on flights:

  • Brewery Ommegang- Cooperstown, NY (owned by Duvel)
  • Stoudts Brewing Company- Adamstown, PA
  • Allagash Brewing Company- Portland, ME

What do you think of Delta’s new in-flight beer offerings? Exciting or not so important?

  1. I’m excited for the addition of the Newburyport Brewing Company beer. It is a small brewery I like but it can be hard to find their beer outside New England.

I also appreciate your well edited, grammatically correct and rant free article about Delta. For those of us that only fly Delta 1-5 times a year, this style is so much more useful.
