Stupidest Reason For Getting Kicked Off Flight

While getting up way too early to fly on Christmas Day to Jamaica I missed news of what just might be the stupidest reason a person ever got kicked off of a flight.

Lucky for me Kim came across the story and sent it my way…

The holiday season is typically a time when people tend to be in a much happier, friendlier and in a more giving mood. However, this was not the case for a man who was supposed to fly with American Airlines on Tuesday.

The man was to fly from New York’s LaGuardia Airport to Dallas when something set him off. An unruly kid? Loud or obnoxious passengers? No, no, no!

It was the words Merry Christmas!

The man got upset “when a cheerful gate agent began welcoming everyone with the Yuletide greeting while checking boarding passes” according to the New York Post. He went on to “bark at the woman- you shouldn’t say that because not everyone celebrates Christmas”.

Now I can definitely say that I hear where the man is coming from- we don’t celebrate Christmas (although we did have fun visiting Santa’s Quarters!). However, there is no need to get angry over some kind words whether you celebrate the holiday or not.

When someone says Merry Christmas to me, my typical response is a smile along with Happy Holidays.

Anyway… So the man got to board his flight but then heard the offensive words of Merry Christmas once again from a flight attendant.

According to the Post, the man said “Don’t say Merry Christmas” and he proceeded to lecture the flight attendant and pilot about those bad words.

The crew tried to calm him down without success which led to him being led off of the plane.

What did the other passengers do? Cheer and applaud the move!

I have one thing to say- Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or whatever else it might be, chill out dude….

Check out the New York Post article for more details here.

  1. Charles McCool-Exactly!

deltahater- I’m curious myself but no details about the passenger were released.

Points With A Crew- Some people probably shouldn’t be around… people!

  2. I saw that too! I love the Merry Christmas flowchart that I saw I think last year. It basically says, if someone wishes you Merry Christmas, or Happy Hanukkah, or Happy Holidays, or whatever, just say THANKS, YOU TOO! instead of getting all crazy over everything… Jeez people! : -P
