It’s been a while since I last ran a giveaway so it’s about that time again…

I’ve only had the chance to use internet during flights a handful of times but when I did, I found it to be pretty awesome. However, there are a few reasons why I’ve rarely been online while up in the air.

  1. I don’t want to pay the price to surf (although I am starting to believe that it might be worth it depending on the lenght of the flight).
  2. I’m usually too tired when I fly to be bothered.
  3. Lucas needs our attention, plus the laptop takes up some of the precious little space allotted to us since we usually fly in coach.

And now for the giveaway:

The Giveaway/ Prize: 5 lucky winners will each receive one Gogo Internet session code. The codes will be sent to each of the winners by e-mail.

To Enter: You MUST sign up through the widget below. Leaving a comment by itself will not count as an entry.

Back in November I gave away 8 Gogo passes. One of the ways to enter was by leaving a comment answering the question: What is the best part of having internet access during flights?  This time around, there will be a new question to answer related to using the internet during flights.

  1. I’m not sure about WiFi – if I have urgent e-mail, sure I’ll use it. But I can load up my laptop with as much entertainment as I need.

  2. Having wifi during flights is a lifesaver when it comes to getting work done on planes. The downside though is that speeds are inconsistent and my laptop’s battery gets used up a bit quicker (not a problem when the plan have plugs, but was recently on a United 10+ hr flight that didn’t have this!)

  3. Wifi is great for passing the time on long flights. I use it to chat with others, since typically one can’t SMS inflight.

  4. We’re flying to LAX this weekend, a 4+ hour flight. (Then quite a bit further, to OZ.) Would love to try out gogo to keep my wife occupied. Thanks, Michael!

  5. I like it for online flight tracking. I do wish it were faster for streaming, though. Which brings up its near monopoly. With hardly any competition, they don’t have any incentive to improve the experience AND we get another price increase next month. They will price themselves out of the leisure market soon.

  6. love updating the office on projects to work on mid flight. I’m traveling AND working….I’m awesome.

Or even just updating the wife on travel progress.
    Thanks!

  7. Being a weekend warrior and football fanatic is tough, you miss a lot of Sunday Night Football. Having the internet helps keep me up to date!

  8. Have used it to send text and email when it is a long flight. Because you can’t wifi call or stream Netflix, options are small.

  9. I think the biggest con is ergonomics when using a laptop. I’m 6’4″, so I really need to hunch over to work. It’s definitely nice to stay connected and catch up on articles and tweets while in the air though.

  10. I always buy in flight WiFi when its available so I can work in flight. Otherwise I need to catch up on all my missed work when I land.

  11. so my kid doesn’t try to play with the window shade (she doesn’t, but I feel like its so tempting)….

  12. Gogo is a Chicago company and I love their service… Though their monopoly can be a little expensive.

  13. I think depending on the length of the flight, and the purpose, it’s a must. If you have a 5-6 hour flight and you’re working, being in touch is helpful.

For leisure, it’s a bit of a help if you’re in coach, as it helps pass the time. If you’re on a premium cabin chances are you’re more interested in enjoying the perks rather than surfing the web. 🙂

  14. I like the option to have wifi during a flight. It keeps me from getting bored and allows me to get work done.

  15. I think it’s a great way to pass time. When you have netflix or other streaming sites that let you watch movies it makes the flight seem a lot shorter.

  16. I don’t mind the concept of inflight wifi, but I don’t fly frequently enough to make a pass worthwhile and often I fly internationally where, at least on Delta, inflight wifi isn’t an option. Plus, at least on the way to Europe, I’d rather make my lame attempts at sleep rather than surf online.

  17. It’s nice for email or social media, but i wish I could stream Netflix or Hulu. I hate having to download things incase the kids want to watch something.
