Our Upcoming Trip- The Lakes to Locks Passage & Saratoga

Back in April I attended the EscapeMaker.com’s Local Food and Travel Expo. (You can read about it here) At the event I chatted with representatives from many local tourism boards.

One booth really stood out due to it having a National Geographic logo attached to it’s banner. The booth I am referring to represented the Lakes to Locks Passage which is a scenic byway between upstate New York and Quebec, Canada. It is New York’s only “All American Road” and features the interconnected waterway of the eastern part of the state.

National Geographic Maps and the Lakes to Locks Passage have a shared website to promote Geotourism in the area.

Kim and I chatted for a while with the representative at the booth. We spoke a bit about the Lake to Locks area and I was also asked about my blog.
At the end of our conversation I was invited for a visit to the Lakes to Locks Passage in partnership with Saratoga. I’ll get to check out a section of the area. My main focus will be in Saratoga.

To plan my visit I spoke a bit about my travel interests with the Lakes to Locks Passage and Saratoga Tourism Board.

Some of the things I will hopefully check out are:

  • The “Award Winning” Saratoga Springs Farmers Market
  • The National Museum of Racing & Hall of Fame
  • Saratoga National Historic Park
  • Hudson Crossing Park
  • Champlain Canal Cruise (If weather permits)

We will be staying in Saratoga Springs at the Gideon Putnam Resort for two nights. It looks like a really beautiful property. The resort is give or take, a 4 hour drive from where we live in Brooklyn and 45 minutes from Albany.

I am really excited to be going on my first sponsored trip this weekend. Keep checking back for posts about our visit to the Lakes to Locks Passage!
