Resources for Planning A Trip to Cuba

Cuba

We recently got back from a fun and very interesting trip to Cuba.

Cuba is probably one of the most talked about destinations to visit for Americans. The country has a sense of mystique due to the fact that we haven’t been allowed to freely visit for over 50 years.

Planning a trip to Cuba isn’t much different from planning a trip to any other destination. There just happen to be more questions and unknowns prior to visiting. Continue reading Resources for Planning A Trip to Cuba

Cuba Information

Kim, Lucas and I got back from our trip to Cuba last week. Our visit has led to lots of question from friends, family and some curious readers.

It’s probably safe to say that Cuba is the most talked about travel destination for Americans these days. Cuba is an alluring destination for us Americans since we haven’t been allowed to legally visit for so many years.

The way things are going, the island should be open to Americans in the near future. Commercial flights from the US to Cuba are being restored soon which will remove once obstacle from visiting. Continue reading Reader Questions: Traveling to Cuba Info

Trip Planning: We’re Going to Cuba!

Cuba

2015 has been another great year of travel for the Michael W Travels family. We visited lots of new places and had many wonderful experiences.

We’ll be ending the year by visiting a destination I’ve long wanted to visit- Cuba!

I first thought about going to Cuba when I worked at CBS News. The show I worked on, 60 Minutes II had done a segment about Cuba called La Isla De Musica. Seeing footage of the island made me want to get there at some point. Continue reading Trip Planning: We’re Going to Cuba!

I initially redeemed 304,000 points on a variety of future trips. I then used an additional 176,000 points on three additional stays.

Due to the Club Carlson benefit ending, I booked us on a trip to Grenada which I otherwise, may have not done. Continue reading Trip Planning: $249.30 + 158,250 Miles & Points= Trip for 3 to Grenada

The school year ended on June 26 and we were off on a little adventure to Nicaragua that evening (or the following morning depending on how you look at it).

We left on a 2:00am flight out of JFK to Panama City before making our way to Nicaragua…

We spent around a week checking out a bunch of areas around the country and flew home on July 4, getting great views of the fireworks as we flew back over New York.

Now that we’re back, I’m a bit late on sharing what we booked and at what it cost whether it be miles, points or cash. Continue reading Trip Planning: $540.42 + 137,250 Miles + 2 IHG Free Nights= Trip for 3 to Nicaragua
