Takeaways from the 2018 New York Times Travel Show

new york times travel showThe New York Times Travel Show took place at the Javits Center from January 26-28, 2018.

This was the 15th anniversary of the show of which I’ve attended probably 9-10 of them.

I debated whether or not to attend this year but in 2017, Lucas had a fun time visiting booths, collecting pens and wandering around. Continue reading Takeaways from the 2018 New York Times Travel Show

Met Miss America & Visited Etihad’s The Residence at NY Times Travel Show

New York Times Travel Show

A couple of days back I wrote about the NY Times Travel Show and how Etihad’s The Residence would be there and yesterday I attended the show’s Trade Day.

I had an overall, very positive experience but noticed some differences this year. The booths didn’t seem to be as extravagant as in years past. It also seemed like the small handful of cities/ states/ countries that I wanted to chat with weren’t present! Etihad’s The Residence At The NY Times Travel Show This Weekend

New York Times Travel Show

This weekend, January 23 – 25 is the very popular New York Times Travel Show which takes places at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC.

I’ve been to the show around 6-7 times including the past few years with media access thanks to my blog.

The cool thing about media access is that it gives you access to the first day of the show which is the Trade Day for industry professionals, exhibitors and media. Continue reading Etihad’s The Residence At The NY Times Travel Show This Weekend

Check out a couple of recaps about the 2013 Show:

I had another fun, interesting and long day at the New York Times Travel Show.
On Friday I attended Travel Industry Day (read about some of the highlights HERE).

Yesterday I returned for the first of two General Public Days. There was a much larger crowd which made it harder at times to get the attention of the travel representatives, but overall it was not too bad.
.
During my visit, I attended a couple of seminars, chatted with representatives of various tourism boards & travel companies and also learned about some new travel- related products.
.
We were running late in the morning so I ended up missing a travel seminar featuring Seth Kugel, the NY Times Frugal Traveler. We ended up making it (a few minutes late) to a seminar given by Andrew McCarthy.

I had a fun time at the first day of the New York Times Travel Show- Travel Industry Day.

There were lots of countries, states & cities represented as well as some travel and tour companies. I found it kind of funny that many of the booths I spoke to did not have much information to share. However, I was offered brochures from pretty much all of them.

I spent the most time chatting at the booth for Japan. They had a pretty large set up and the representatives seemed knowledgeable and willing to help. I was talking about itinerary ideas since Kim, Lucas and I will be heading to Japan at the end of June! (More on that another time.)
