Did I Get A Citi American Airlines Credit Card Retention Offer

American Airlines Credit Card

When the annual fee posted to the account for my Citi American Airlines credit card, I knew there was something I had to do.

I rarely am willing to pay a credit card’s annual fee and this was especially the case for this card. I can’t say that I see much value in the card making it worth paying $95 to hold onto.

I decided to call the number on the back of my card and find out about a retention offer. Continue reading Did I Get A Citi American Airlines Credit Card Retention Offer

My Starwood Amex Biz Retention Offer

Starwood Amex

After getting back from our trip to Nicaragua on July 4, it was time to look over my credit card accounts to check on things…

While I was happy to see a $75 statement credit on my Starwood Amex Business card before we went away, this time I saw the $65 Annual Membership Fee had posted.

What to do, what to do… Continue reading My Starwood Amex Biz Retention Offer

Chase Ink Plus, A Quick & Easy Retention Call

The $95 fee recently came up for one of my favorite credit cards, the Chase Ink Plus so I had a tough decision to make… Should it stay or should it go? My options were to cancel or try to keep my card.

If I closed my account, it wouldn’t really be the biggest deal since I still currently have an Ink Bold. The Bold offers the same 5X points benefits at office supply stores and cell phone & other telecom bills.

So what to do? Continue reading Chase Ink Plus, A Quick & Easy Retention Call

Citi AA Retention Offer: “But We’ll Miss You If You Do That”

citi credit cards

Last year I received a retention offer on my Citi American Airlines Visa card.

While I wasn’t thrilled with the options, I decided to keep the card open. I then considered calling back to close the card but in the end, never bothered….

The annual fee of $85 has once again came up which means it was time for another call. Continue reading Citi AA Retention Offer: “But We’ll Miss You If You Do That”

Shot Down: Amex Platinum Retention Offer

amex platinum cardBack in January 2013 I started a two-year relationship with the American Express Platinum card. We got off to a rough start and I had to make many calls and write a couple of letters before Amex did the right thing and gave me my 100,000 points.

I never intended to keep my card open for two full years but a retention offer &  an additional retention bonus along with hopes of a generous Membership Rewards transfer bonus offer made me do it. Continue reading Shot Down: Amex Platinum Retention Offer

BoA Alaska Airlines Biz Card Retention Offer- Really?

IMG_0113

When the $75 annual fee appeared on the bill for my Bank of America Alaska Airlines Business card I knew that I had a very important call to make.

Since the Alaska Airlines card isn’t one that I really use, I wanted to see if there was anything the bank could do or offer me to keep my card.

It was time to make a call and inquire about a retention offer. Continue reading BoA Alaska Airlines Biz Card Retention Offer- Really?

Back in 2013 I signed up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card for the second time. I received a very solid 55,000 points (50K sign-up + 5K for adding an authorized user) as a signup bonus.

A couple of weeks back the steep $125 annual membership fee showed up on my monthly statement.

This left me needing to make an important call. Continue reading Chase Sapphire Preferred Retention Offer?

Chase British Airways Card Retention Offer

Chase British Airways Card

After paying the annual fee on my Chase British Airways Visa card for 2 years (so that I could earn the full 100,000 Avios bonus offer) the time had come to most likely close the card.

The Chase BA card comes with an annual fee of $95 and for my purposes the card isn’t worth paying for anymore.

I decided to give British Airways Visa customer service a call. Continue reading Chase British Airways Card Retention Offer

A Bizarre Retention Offer

Turning Down A Citi AA Retention Offer

This is really bizarre…

Last month I thought that I turned down a retention offer on my Citi AA Mastercard and closed my account.

I was told that the $95 balance from the annual fee would be removed and that the account was closed. However, when I checked into my Citi account a few times over the past month, it always showed that I still had a balance. Continue reading A Bizarre Retention Offer

Turning Down A Citi AA Retention Offer

a close up of a credit card

The time has come for the annual fee on my Citi American Airlines Mastercard and I wasn’t about to pay $95 to hold onto the card for another year.

I decided to call in to see if there were any interesting offers available for me before going ahead to close my card. In some ways I hoped there wasn’t. I’d like to thin out my stack of open cards before opening  many more… Continue reading Turning Down A Citi AA Retention Offer
