NYC Getting Ice Cream Museum for a Limited Time

In New York City we’re lucky to be able to find food from pretty much every country in the world. (One man is even trying to eat authentic cuisine from every country in the world in NYC.)

Besides eating great food, it’s also fun at times to learn about specific kinds of food in museums. A French museum about wine was recently set to open.

I’ve also visited various food museums around the world like: Continue reading NYC Getting Ice Cream Museum for a Limited Time

When it comes to visiting museums I tend to gravitate towards those focused on bizarre topics. Many of them usually focus on food or oddities.

Here are some interesting museums I’ve visited:

I just came across news of a new museum opening in France dedicated to Bordeaux wine! Continue reading A French Museum All About Bordeaux Wine Is Opening

A Visit to the Waffle House Museum

Waffle House Museum

At the end of April I headed to Atlanta for some frequent-traveler related events. The main reason for the visit was to attend the Freddie Awards. I also had a couple of other related events on the agenda with the more interesting one being the Delta Jet Drag.

Prior to heading off to Atlanta, I was surprised to get great customer service from United. However, I did find their text messaging service to be a waste of time.

Whenever I head off on a trip, regardless of the main purpose, I have to do some research to find out what else the area might have to offer. Since I had been to Atlanta just shy of a year before, I had some ideas… Continue reading A Visit to the Waffle House Museum

This Might Be The Weirdest Museum Ever & I’d Love To Visit

Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan

I’ve mentioned many times in the past that I’m a fan of odd and strange museums. When thinking of some that fit this description, a museum dedicated to french fries and another all about currywurst come to mind.

Then there’s the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia and the even more shocking Kunstkamera in St Petersburg, Russia.

I could go on mentioning some more weird ones, but a recently opened museum in my hometown of Brooklyn, New York might take top prize…. Continue reading This Might Be The Weirdest Museum Ever & I’d Love To Visit

Visiting A Cat Museum & Cafe- St Petersburg, Russia

Over the past couple of days there has been lots of media attention and long waits for those looking to get into the Purina One Cat Cafe in NYC. The cat cafe is the first of its kind in North America.

When I first starting hearing about the NYC Cat Cafe it immediately brought back memories of a silly place that we visited a little over a year back while in St Petersburg, Russia.

Kim, Lucas and I headed to Russia for our holiday break in 2013 and visited Moscow (and St Petersburg).

A Museum of Curiosities In Connecticut

Two-Headed Calf

There are all sorts of museums which draw people in.  I can’t say that I am much of an art lover but when I hear about a museum featuring oddities, count me in!

Over the years, I’ve been to a bunch of museums that fit this bill.

Here are a few that I’ve been to and have written about:

During a weekend trip to Connecticut I came across a small museum, more so a room in a National Historic Landmark, the Old State House in Hartford.

A Shocking Collection Of Oddities: The Kunstkamera- St Petersburg, Russia

In the past I’ve written about a couple of odd, medical related museums that I’ve visited- the Mutter Museum and the International Museum of Surgical Sciences.
.
While doing some research for things to do during our trip to Russia, I came across a museum that had a collection of oddities similar to the ones mentioned above.
.
During our visit to St Petersburg Russia, the Kunstkamera was at the top of my list of places to visit.

The International Museum of Surgical Sciences- Chicago

While preparing for my quick Trip to Chicago (to run in the O’Hare Runway Run) I wanted to find a place that was unique, interesting and different to visit.

To help me in my search I turned to Atlas Obscura, a fun and interesting site where you can browse around to find “curious and wondrous travel destinations”.
