Happy 10th Birthday World Traveler Lucas- 70 Countries Visited!

World Traveler
Memphis Pyramid

A couple of weeks back my not so little man Lucas reached double digits! I can’t believe that he is 10 years old! To celebrate, we had our favorite burger at Peter Luger.

Due to COVID, 2020 wasn’t a very good year for anyone. In terms of travel, Lucas and I took a trip to the Netherlands, otherwise, we all went on some bunch of road trips.

While I didn’t write a 9th birthday post for my young world traveler, he was at 65 countries (UN Member States), adding only one new country that year. Continue reading Happy 10th Birthday World Traveler Lucas- 70 Countries Visited!

Check Out Lucas In This Month’s TimeOut New York Kids!

TimeOut New York KidsAlmost two years back I wrote how TimeOut was opening a huge food hall in NYC.

Soon after sharing news of the upcoming new market, we visited TimeOut Market in Lisbon, Portugal. We were really impressed by the food options and looked forward to the NY version.

TimeOut Market NY opened in Brooklyn before last summer and I’d say it’s decent but overall, disappointing. I had high hopes for classic NY restaurants to be featured just like in Portugal. There are some good food options with Pat LaFrieda’s stalls being the best in my opinion however it’s lacking the amazing vibe that we experienced in Portugal.

While at the market a few months back, we picked up a copy of TimeOut New York Kids. Continue reading Check Out Lucas In This Month’s TimeOut New York Kids!

Appalachian Trail: TN-NC State Line

Last week our little man Lucas turned 8 years-old!

Rather than have a birthday party, our family opted to celebrate by going on a quick trip to Philadelphia (probably our favorite city close to NYC). Since we all love to travel, this was a great way to celebrate!

I can still remember our first trip with Lucas at 3 months old to Barbados and now, here he is at 8 years-old having already visited 64 countries! No, that isn’t a typo, before turning 8, Lucas made it past 60 countries. Yes, Lucas is a true world traveler! Continue reading Happy B-Day World Traveler Lucas- 8 Years-Old, 64 Countries Visited!

Happy 7th B-Day World Traveler Lucas, 54 Countries Visited!

world travelerA few days back, our (not so) little boy, Lucas Miles turned 7 years-old!

It’s almost hard to believe that Lucas is already seven years old. He’s in first grade, doing very well in school. Lucas loves math and is excelling in reading and writing. Yes, homework can be cause for complaint though!

He’e also a world traveler, having already visited 54 countries! Yes, he’s visited over 50 countries before turning 7 years-old! Continue reading Happy 7th B-Day World Traveler Lucas, 54 Countries Visited!

Super Proud Dad Moment Inspired By Shake Shack!

Last week, Kim and I went up to Lucas’s new school for Open School Night.

Lucas started first grade in the Gift & Talented program at his school. The program comes with a lot of work and learning both in school and at home thanks to lots of homework!

After arriving at our scheduled time, we still had to wait around 10 minutes before going in to talk to his teacher. Continue reading Super Proud Dad Moment Inspired By Shake Shack!

Traveling With An Infant? 10 Products You Need!

Family Travel
Singapore Airlines- August 2012

Traveling with a baby or young child for the first or 100th time requires extra time overall. From packing, to getting ready, and actually getting to the airport all take a little more time and effort than traveling sans kids.

One area that needs to be addressed when traveling with that third (or fourth) wheel, I mean cute little one is what baby-specific gear you now need to bring on your adventures. At the beginning, you’re going to most likely over-do it but odds are that you won’t need most of that extra bulk! Continue reading Traveling With An Infant? 10 Products You Need!

It’s amazing how fast time flies.

Today is a very special day over here at Michael W Travels. My not-so-little man, Lucas turns 5 years old! We started off the festivities with a party in Lucas’s school and we’ll follow up with a dinner or two out before we have his real party over the weekend!

Lucas changed our world in so many amazing ways. He is a proud big brother, fun, loving, friendly & happy kid and a true world traveler. He’s also one of the most calm and smooth flyers I know. He definitely has me beat. I hated flying when I was a kid. Continue reading 33 Countries Visited, 220,000+ Miles Flown, Happy 5th Birthday Lucas!

11 Things I Learned From My 1st Father Son Trip

Father Son Trip

Lucas and I recently went on our 1st Father Son Trip. The destination wasn’t so important when the idea came up but I knew it had to be an international trip.

I decided on Poland since it was a country I’ve long wanted to visit plus I was able to get an award flight there in business class using my AAdvantage miles. (Check out my Poland Trip Planning post here.) Continue reading 11 Things I Learned From My 1st Father Son Trip

One of our bigger trips of the year usually take place during Spring Break.

Last year we visited the amazing country- Myanmar (Burma). For 2016 we were supposed to visit Fiji and Vanuatu but we had to cancel our plans.

Kim is currently grounded from flying while pregnant with Baby W Travels! However, this doesn’t mean that Lucas and I can’t sneak away for a quick trip! Continue reading Lucas & I Are Going On Our 1st Father Son Trip!
