Over the years our trip souvenir shopping has rapidly decreased. These days, our purchases tend to usually be some sort of little toy for Lucas.

On occassion I’ll buy a t-shirt to remember or support a place that I enjoyed visiting or some other small item if it really stands out

During our trip to the Mid-West there wasn’t really anything that caught my eye. Lucas did get a bunch of small toys but for me, the best thing to remember our trip was an edible item. Continue reading Tasty Souvenirs From Our Trip to K.C.

Feasting At 5 Tasty K.C. BBQ Joints

Earlier in the summer, Kim, Lucas and I went on a Mid-West Mini Roadtrip, visiting parts of 4 states in around 5 days. (Find out all about our trip planning details here.)

One of the main purposes (and highlights) of our visit was getting to sample some of the world-famous Kansas City barbecue. With (from what I’ve read) over 100 BBQ restaurants to choose from, we had some difficult decisions to make.

All along I knew that we had to try two of the oldest and most famous of the BBQ restaurants, Arthur Bryant’s and Gates. I had first heard of them on the Travel Channel show Food Wars. Otherwise, we did a bit of reading before deciding which other places we wanted to try out.

Earlier in the summer, Kim, Lucas and I spent five days checking out a part of the U.S. that was pretty much new to us during our Mid-West Mini Roadtrip.

While there weren’t really any amazing sites and things to visit, it was still a fun trip for a relatively low cost. It actually ended up being a great trip for Lucas due to the amount of things that we visited which appealed to him.

During our long drive from Kansas City, Missouri to Omaha, Lucas got to see lots of trains. We also stopped at a couple of transit museums which were right up his alley!

A highlight for me was getting to finally try out some of Kansas City’s famous barbecue! Continue reading Our Mid-West Mini Roadtrip In A Nutshell

With our most recent trip being planned last-minute (and during the trip), I didn’t have the time to write a trip-planning post. However, I still wanted to share all of the details now that the trip has come to an end.

Earlier in the year, Kim, Lucas and I set out on A Quick Euro-Roadtrip where we got a taste of 3 Countries In 4.5 Days. I can’t say that I love driving but I did enjoy this trip since it was quite different than the norm for us. While thinking about where to go during our end of school year break I kept focusing on Missouri. I’ve been wanting to visit St Louis and Kansas City for a while and this seemed to be the perfect time. Continue reading $348.65 + 71,906 Points= Trip For 3: Air, Hotel & Car Rental
