Looking Back: Should You Take Your Toddler To Oktoberfest?

With Oktoberfest 2017 underway (and ending on October 3), I felt it would be a great idea to re-share a post which I wrote about the festival a few years back.

The majority of people might think of Oktoberfest as a beer-filled festival full of drunks and they would be correct to an extent. However, the festival is also family-friendly with yummy food, fun rides and appealing music playing in the tents.

Take a look at my post, “Should You Take Your Toddler to Oktoberfest“.  Feel free to share your thoughts. Would you bring your toddler to Oktoberfest or would you rather experience an adult only version? Continue reading Looking Back: Should You Take Your Toddler To Oktoberfest?

Last week I wrote about two Chinese tourists who were arrested in Germany for doing a Nazi salute. I was happy to hear that they faced some sort of punishment for doing this hateful pose.

I recently came across news that an American tourist gave the Nazi salute in Dresden, Germany. Continue reading American Tourist Gives Nazi Salute in Germany, Gets Beat Up

Flashback: Should You Take Your Toddler to Oktoberfest

With Munich’s Oktoberfest 2016 heading into its final weekend, I thought it would be fitting to re-share a post about our experience at the festival back in 2013.

Most people think of Oktoberfest as a festival for adults. However, the event also has appeal to kids. There are rides, great food to chow down on and when you head into the tents, you’re bound to hear some fun music.

Check out my post “Should You Take Your Toddler to Oktoberfest” and let me know- would you take your toddler to Munich to celebrate or prefer to leave the little ones home? Continue reading Flashback: Should You Take Your Toddler to Oktoberfest

The refugee problem is causing migrant camps to pop up around parts of Europe. This could also be a problem for tourists if you aren’t careful.

A Chinese tourist on a tour of Europe was mistaken for a refugee while in Germany and got “locked into a migrant camp for two weeks  after he attempted to report a crime“, according to Breitbart. Continue reading Chinese Tourist Mistaken for Refugee, Spends 2 Weeks in German Migrant Camp

First Hard Rock Hotel Opening in Germany

Hard Rock Hotel

Hard Rock Hotel has locations all over the world although I wouldn’t call it a big hotel brand. (They currently have 22 hotels.) However, they seem to be expanding quite a bit with a bunch of new locations in the works.

The first Hard Rock Hotel will be opening in Germany and it will be located in an interesting and historic location. Continue reading First Hard Rock Hotel Opening in Germany

Win A Trip to Munich

Munich Germany

I just found out about a contest (thanks Gothamist) being ran by ShermansTravel where you can win a trip for 2 to Munich Germany.

If you like beer you’ll love Munich, although drinking isn’t the only fun thing the city has to offer. Check out the local parks, town squares, museums, take a day-trip and more…

During my second visit to the city, I went to attend Oktoberfest. While we didn’t have time to explore much of the city that time around, the festival is more than worthy reason to visit! Continue reading Win A Trip to Munich

My Almost Celebrity Encounter in Berlin

Berlin Cathedral

Last year I had an almost close encounter with a pretty well known actor. Kim, Lucas and I were walking from our hotel in Berlin (the Radisson Blu) to Museum Island.

Along the way we stopped to take photos of the Berlin Cathedral. We noticed people walking around, looking a bit peculiar. We walked a bit further in to get a more centered photo of the cathedral before realizing that a film was being shot. All of these random people were movie extras. Back to The Balkans- Day 1: 20 Hours in Berlin

Trip Planning: Back to The Balkans

To start off our trip Back to The Balkans we had a layover of 20+ hours in Berlin. Besides spending the night at a hotel close to the airport, we also had around a half-day to wander around the city.

We had a really nice time during our visit to Berlin last September (including seeing some Amazing Art at the Berlin Wall) so we didn’t mind the time in the city.

We didn’t really arrive with much of a plan besides heading over to one museum that we missed back in September. We decided to head over to the area around Checkpoint Charlie and figure it out from there.

Here is how we spent our time: Continue reading Back to The Balkans- Day 1: 20 Hours in Berlin

Germany Wins the World Title For… Nudity

photo from our trip to Berlin @ DDR Museum

I came across Expedia’s Flip Flop Report  in an article from CNBC recently .

According to Expedia, the report is “an annual study of behavior and preferences among beachgoers in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand.”

In the article (and report) I learned that Germany has won another title this summer. Continue reading Germany Wins the World Title For… Nudity
