Last weekend, the Michael W Travels family headed off on our first trip of 2019 (over President’s Week break).

We headed to a destination which was the first city I ever visited in Europe- Barcelona. We also included a visit to Andorra, a first for all of us.

I was happy to find award availability for our flights using American Airlines AAdvantage miles. The only issue was the time of the flight. Continue reading Possibly The Worst Time To Fly To Europe

Europe’s Cheapest Cities To Visit

Cheap European Cities
Palace of Parliament- Bucharest, Romania

It seems like I keep reading about how now is the time to go to Europe. This is mainly due to the Euro falling close to a 1:1 exchange rage with the US dollar.

According to an article from The Guardian, “the euro has lost 35% of its value since last May“. It also fell “below $1.06 for the first time since April 2003” on Wednesday.

While the dollar is catching up to the euro, some countries and cities must still offer a better deal than others.

Smarter Travel took a look at Europe’s Cheapest Cities This year. Continue reading Europe’s Cheapest Cities To Visit

How Many European Countries Have You Visited?

a book and a spoon on a map

Last week I was inspired to look into how many U.S. states I’ve been to thanks to a short and simple post from Buzzfeed. (Check out the post here and use the checklist to see how many you’ve visited.)

The post brought a good amount of interest. A bunch of readers have made it to all 50 states and some others were close to completing this special feat.  Continue reading How Many European Countries Have You Visited?

10 Most Family Friendly Cities In Europe

When we started traveling with Lucas, he was 11 weeks old. At the time, finding kid-friendly activities was (obviously) not a priority.  To ease back into traveling, we headed to Barbados figuring a Caribbean island would be simpler than running around and doing tons of sightseeing. It turned out that we did find quite a bit to do during the trip. We rented a car and drove all over the island even checking out the loud and busy Friday night Oistins Fish Fry.

Since then Lucas has been on quite a few trips. Here is a recap of his first 2 years of traveling. We’ve been on 3 trips to Europe since Lucas has turned 2 including our current trip to  Milan & Malta.

In recent months I’ve posted a couple of quizzes from Buzzfeed which helped us figure out What City You Should Actually Live In and What State Do You Belong In.

I just came across another fun Buzzfeed quiz. This time the quiz will let us know:

  • Which European Country Do You Actually Belong In?

While this quiz is geared towards Europeans, I still decided to answer the questions.
