How Long Does It Take: Register A Kid For JetBlue TrueBlue

JetBlue TrueBlue24:13, that’s how long…

There has been a bunch of JetBlue related posts over the past few months due to the upcoming changes being made by the airline.

After writing about these changes, I never would’ve expected to book a flight, let alone a paid one with JetBlue. However, a pretty decent fare to a place that I’ve long wanted to visit presented itself…

So I booked a flight after the JetBlue apocalypse to Charleston for early March. Continue reading How Long Does It Take: Register A Kid For JetBlue TrueBlue

Should Parents Fly Biz Class & Have Kids Sit In Coach?

Flying with kids

Is it right for parents to fly upfront in premium cabins while their kids fly in coach?

My gut instinct would be to quickly say no, never. However, I think each case needs to be looked into a bit more closely. Continue reading Should Parents Fly Biz Class & Have Kids Sit In Coach?

Happy 3rd B-Day Lucas! 49,000+ Miles Flown in 2014- The Journey Continues

family travel

This past Sunday was a big day around here at the Michael W Travels Headquarters.

While I’m not big on celebrating birthdays, it was a big deal for the #1 little guy in my life. Lucas Miles W. turned 3 over the weekend and we had 3 days of celebration!

Lucas has really grown a lot in the past year. He is still just about as friendly as ever and is doing great in school. (We got a glowing report about him after his birthday party!) It’s fun seeing Lucas make friends, develop his own interests and really just grow as a person. Continue reading Happy 3rd B-Day Lucas! 49,000+ Miles Flown in 2014- The Journey Continues

In-Flight Fight Over Crying Baby, Don’t Piss Off This Mom

The Matrix or in-flight fight? (image: yahoo-twitter)

In what appears to be a growing trend there seems to be more in-flight fights and arguments these days…

These situations seem to be occurring due to a lack of personal space on planes. Maybe it’s someone reclining their seat (I think they have the right to do so if they want), a lack of overhead bin space or maybe someone just being too loud. Wrong To Sign Kids Up for Loyalty Programs When Under Age?

hotel loyalty program(Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for a chance to win a pair of the best travel pants ever!)

Fellow BoardingArea blogger Gary of View From the Wing posted about getting 2,000 free IHG Rewards Club Points for signing up for a new account yesterday.

Since Kim and I have been members of IHG Rewards Club for year, this offer didn’t apply to us, however it did for Lucas.

I figured that if Lucas got 2,000 points just for signing up, I could probably figure out a way to get him another 3,000 points. Continue reading Wrong To Sign Kids Up for Loyalty Programs When Under Age?

Things to do in Oklahoma

It’s been a week since I last wrote about our Trip to OklahomaI wanted to finish the final installment so here is a post about some of the things we did during our final day in Tulsa.

After spending some time at Oktoberfest during the first two days of our trip we figured our last day would best be spent checking out the sites around Tulsa. This included checking out a couple of more Route 66 sites, meeting up with a local twitter travel friend, eating some tasty BBQ and checking out a couple of museums. Best Airports For Kids

traveling with kidsOver Lucas first 2+ years traveling, he’s visited just a shade under 50 airports.

Over this time we’ve come across some airports which have really fun play areas for kids. As great as these play areas can seem, there have also been times where we’ve had to avoid or distract Lucas from seeing them. When you’re in a rush to catch a flight, there isn’t always time for a play pit-stop! Continue reading Best Airports For Kids

It’s Hard Traveling Without Your Toddler

Back to The Balkans- Days 2 & 3- On to Romania & The Castles of Transylvania 6Kim and I just got back from Las Vegas where I attended the BoardingArea Conference otherwise known as BAcon.

There wasn’t a ton of time for play during this trip since I was in meetings most of the time. This didn’t really bother me all too much since this wasn’t my first trip to Vegas but something just didn’t seem right.  Continue reading It’s Hard Traveling Without Your Toddler

Should You Take Your Toddler to Oktoberfest

a man drinking beer from a glassAfter writing a post based on a Fodor’s article about 10 Things Not to DO at Disney World, I felt it was fitting to finally write a little about our experience at an amazing festival (which has some rides).

Most people probably consider Munich’s Oktoberfest an event just for adults but they’d actually be wrong. Continue reading Should You Take Your Toddler to Oktoberfest

The Sweetest Ending To A Flight

a heart shaped chocolate candy
Air Berlin Chocolate Heart

During our trip Back to The Balkans we flew with Air Berlin to get to/ from our destinations. Over the past couple of years we’ve flown with the airline a few times, finding award availability using our American Airlines AAdvantage miles.

If Air Berlin wasn’t a member of oneworld (making it a partner of AA) our summer trip to the Balkans and last years trip to Germany for Oktoberfest may have not even happened.

The thing about Air Berlin is that we’ve found the seats on their planes (in coach) to be some of the most uncomfortable for international flights. Continue reading The Sweetest Ending To A Flight
