Travel Channel- World’s Wackiest Museums

a logo of a travel company
The Travel Channel has a fun slide show featuring a list of the World’s Wackiest Museums.
I am not a huge museum fan but do enjoy visiting odd, quirky and not so typical museums.
Here is Travel Channel’s List of World’s Wackiest Museums:
  1. Burlingame Pez Museum- San Francisco, CA
  2. Southern Food & Beverage Museum- New Orleans, LA
  3. The International UFO Museum & Research Center- Roswell, NM
  4. Museum of Sex- NYC
  5. Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum- Japan
  6. Museum of Bad Art- Boston, MA
  7. Giant Shoe Museum- Seattle, WA
  8. Sulabh International Museum of Toilets- New Delhi
  9. The Collection of Questionable Medical Devices- In the Science Museum of Minnestota
  10. The Fan Museum- London
  11. National Mustard Museum- Middleton, WI
  12. Kansas Barbed Wire Museum- La Crosse, KS
  13. Chicken Art Museum- Seoul, South Korea
I’ve only visited one museum from the list- The Museum of Sex, kind of odd but I wouldn’t call it one of the world’s wackiest. I’d like to check out some of the other museums like the Pez Museum, Ramen Museum (which I wrote about: Odd Museums: Museums Dedicated to Ramen Noodles) and the Museum of Bad Art.
The Kansas Barbed Wire Museum sounds like the most ridiculous museum  listed.
There is one museum that I’ve visited that I think deserves a spot on this list- The Friet Museum in Belgium. The museum is all about french fries. Check out my post  Not Your Usual Museum: Friet Museum.
Check out the Travel Channel slide show which has info about each museum listed HERE

Miami Airport: Total Access- A New Reality Show

a logo with a hand and text
I am a pretty big fan of reality television. For me it started with watching The Real World on MTV. Two of my favorite reality shows are Survivor and The Amazing Race- I’ve been watching both for years. These days there seems to be reality shows about almost anything- from pawn shops to animal police. (Yes I do watch a bunch of these shows)
I recently heard about a new show being filmed for the Travel Channel that I’d definitely like to watch.
The show is going to be all about what goes on at Miami International Airport (MIA). The show will focus on what goes on behind the scenes at the airport and follow several employees around.

Before writing about this new show I contacted Travel Channel to try to find out some more details about it. I also looked online but could not find much information. My e-mail was sent on 3/1/12 and I just received a response on 4/13/12.

The response came from Scripps Network, the parent company of Travel Channel. The only new information that I received was the official name of the show- Miami Airport: Total Access.
Here is the response that I received from Scripps Network:

Hello and thank you for your email.  Please accept our sincere apology for the delay in getting back to you with this response.

Specific information regarding the program Miami Airport: Total Access is not yet available. You may want to contact us toward the end of May and we would be happy to check on the status for you.

    Best regards,

I plan to write back to Scripps in May to try to get some more info about the show and definitely look forward to watching Miami Airport: Total Access whenever it gets scheduled to air.
