Last night I went online to book a flight for our upcoming summer destination.
What should’ve been around 10 minutes online at Virgin America ended up being a couple of hours, lots of hold times (with bad music) during calls to customer service and no resolution so far. Continue reading Virgin America Takes Double My Points, Where’s My Flight?
The summer is fast approaching and I’ve been thinking a lot about what the Michael W Travels family will do (and more importantly, where we will go).
One of the main parts of a successful summer trip for us, is using some of our stockpile of American Airlines miles. I had no luck for a few weeks but never gave up trying. I now have a flight on hold which will get us to a region Kim and I have wanted to return to for some time now. Marriott is looking for ways to expand and build more locations quickly and cheaply.
To do so, the company has come up with a plan to build prefab hotels. The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Folsom, California is the first of these new build hotels and a second one is already being put together in Oklahoma City. I’ve heard many stories about people in premium cabins trading their seats with members of the military as a way to say thanks. However, back in 2014 a NFL star was duped by a fake Marine.
While I’m not a hockey fan it was still nice to come across the story of NHL Star and Chicago Blackhawks player Patrick Kane giving up his first class seat recently for a uniformed serviceman. Continue reading Find Out Why NHL Star Patrick Kane Gave Up His 1st Class Seat

Rapper Bow Wow posted a photo to Instagram earlier in the week showing a private jet with the caption “traveling to NY today“. Based on the Post, its safe to say that he was implying that he flew on the private plane. Continue reading Rapper Bow Wow Instagrams Private Jet Photo, Flies Commercial
United Airlines has had a tough past couple of months with frequent bad customer service.
There was the ugly incident with the dentist, a scorpion stung a passenger on a flight and a couple flying to their destination was kicked off of a flight.
In the latest incident, a passenger is claiming that his reservation was cancelled by United Airlines for filming a disagreement. Continue reading United Airlines Cancels Passenger’s Reservation, Filmed Disagreement
The ideas are flowing around here for summer travel plans although we’ve yet to commit to anything. Will you be traveling this summer? If so, where are you going?
I got approved for the Alaska Airlines credit card. This will be an easy 30,000 miles plus a $100 statement credit. Once I’m done with that card maybe I’ll go for the US Bank Altitude Reserve…

We’re hopefully going to take our longest trip to date, to a region we haven’t visited in quite some time. I’m crossing my fingers that I can find an award flight with my AA miles.

I’ve read many times that Air Koryo, the state owned carrier of North Korea is the world’s worst airline. I can’t comment on this based on experience but Skytrax gave the airline only one star.
If an airline is considered the worst in the world, then how might the food offered on board be? Gourmet, probably not.. Continue reading Does Air Koryo Serve the Worst Airline Meal?
