Earn An EASY 500 Priority Club Points

a close up of a sign

Last year one of my most popular posts was when I was giving out codes to earn 1,000
Priority Club points for watching a 90 second video.

The codes have long ran out but here is another great offer to earn-
500 free Priority Club Points.

The best part is that no codes are needed! Let me explain:
Priority Club would like members to support it’s green initiative and go paperless by signing up for monthly eStatements. Instead of wasting paper, your statements will be e-mailed to you on a monthly basis.

For switching over to eStatements you will earn 500 bonus points!

Follow these steps to switch to eStatements:

  1. Log on to your Priority Club account at priorityclub.com/email
  2. Under Edit Email Subscriptions select eStatements
  3. Save the changes

The 500 points bonus offer is good until December 31, 2012 (and you must remain opted in to eStatements until then). Bonus points should post in 6- 8 weeks.

Mile Up: Earn More Bonus Award Miles from United

a yellow and blue card with white text

A couple of days back I received an e-mail from United Airlines about a new bonus awards offer called Mile Up

With the promotion you can earn 25% more bonus awards miles through December 31.
Bonus awards can be earned with United Airline’s shopping, dining, car rentals, hotel partners & more.

According to the e-mail, this offer is only valid for original recipients of the offer residing in the 50 United States. I’d suggest keeping an eye out in your e-mail (and spam folder) for the offer if you are interested in participating.

Registering for this Offer:

  • Register through the link in your e-mail
  • You must register before earning bonus miles (no retroactive bonuses will be awarded)
  • Registration ends November 15, 2012

You can earn up to 25,000 bonus award miles from the Mile Up promotion

I registered for the Mile Up promotion but doubt that I’ll take part in it. I usually shop through cash back sites for online purchases.

Some cash back sites with good offers are:

Also, I use EV Reward to decide on which site has the best bonus offers. They show offers for cash back, hotel points and airline miles programs. (Note: Fat Wallet does not come up on EV.)

***If you decide to join one of the cash back sites above with my links, I will receive a small referral bonus

Citi American Airlines Retention Bonus Offers

    a close-up of a credit card

Earlier in the year I wrote a post about Citi American Airlines credit card retention bonuses.

For those of you unsure of what a retention bonus is, I’ll explain.
A retention bonus is an offer that the credit card companies make to a  card member to keep them from closing their account. The offers could be a lower interest rate, miles, waiving the yearly fee etc.

To get a retention bonus, you (the card holder) call customer service and explain that you want to close your account (or are thinking of closing the account but want to know what offers are available). I always explain how I am getting better offers from other credit cards and mention examples like 3x gas, 2x groceries etc.

Last week I was doing a little credit card maintenance. I was able to open 4 Citi AAdvantage credit cards around a year ago and figured that it was almost time to close some out. Before doing so, I figured that I could squeeze a few thousand more miles out of each card.

I decided to call the Citi Retention Line for three of my cards. It turned out that I had closed one of my cards earlier in the year (I forgot to put it in my cancelled pile) so I was now down to two shots at a bonus offer.

The offers I received (for both cards) were:

    1. Spend $500 in 3 months and receive 3,000 bonus miles
    2. Spend $750, get 750 bonus miles for 16 months

It was a no-brainer. I went with option #1 for both cards.
For $1,000 in spending I will earn 7,000 miles. This is a great offer which will earn me 7 miles per dollar!

To reach the Citi Retention Line

    • Personal cards, call 800-444-2568
    • Business cards, call the customer service number on the back of your card

    Another interesting piece of info:
I’ve cancelled credit cards and had annual fees removed many times after the fee had posted to my account.  I never knew if there was a set amount of time given to have the fee removed. I usually just make sure to call and cancel (or ask for the fee to be removed) a few days before the bill is due. When accepting my retention bonus terms, I found out that we have 37 days from when the billing cycle ends to call to close the account and have the annual fee removed.

Earn Up to 4,000 United Miles with NetFlix

    Invalid request error occurred.

Over the years Kim and I have each signed up for Netflix just to earn the airline miles signup bonus. In fact, the last time I signed up I didn’t even watch one movie and was totally fine with that. The bonus is usually 2,500- 3,000 miles which is a pretty good deal for $7.99 (the lowest priced Netflix subscription).

Here is a very nice deal that I received an e-mailed about a couple of weeks back. I meant to write about it but it slipped my mind….

Sign up for Netflix and earn up to 4,000 bonus miles:

    • Earn 2,000 miles when you become a paying member of Netflix
    • Earn another 2,000 miles when paying with your MileagePlus credit card

If you wanted to buy 2,000 miles from United it would cost $75.25. So for $7.99 you can get up to 4,000 miles plus watch all of the movies you like with Netflix for one month.

Open to new Netflix members only (I’ve heard of people getting multiple bonuses)
Allow 8-10 weeks for mileage bonus to post
Membership is month to month and can be cancelled at any time

Some Current Airline and Hotel Offers

Here are a few offers and promotions worth considering/ registering for:
    • Register for United MileagePlus Mobile Offers and get 500 bonus award miles. Register your Visa card and receive special offers by text message.
    • Purchase US Airways Dividend Miles and receive a 100% bonus. This offer is good for up to 50,000 miles which costs $1750 ( about $.0175 cents per mile). Not a horrible price especially if you need some miles to top off an account.
    • Register for Starwood Preferred Guest Nice Choice by June 30, 2012. The promotion allows you to choose what, when and how you earn. There are some pretty “nice” options.
    • Register by June 30 for the Marriott Rewards Summer Bonus and earn up to three free nights. Stay at participating Marriott Hotels worldwide between June 1- August 31 and earn one free night after every second paid stay.

    Club Carlson Promos:

    • You can still register for the Radisson Big Night Giveaway  and earn 50,000 Gold Points after completing one qualifying stay by July 15. You can earn one bonus per account. I did one stay last weekend and my bonus was posted in 4 days. We’ll be doing another stay in two weeks from now in Kim’s name which will get us another 50K bonus.
    • There are still spots left to register for the Park Inn Stay One, Get One promotion. Like the Radisson Big Night, you can earn 44,000 Gold Points after completing one qualifying stay by July 22, 2012. There are only 10 Park Inns in the US which makes this promo a bit harder to complete. Kim and I are staying at a Park Inn in Pennsylvania in mid-July. We each booked one night so that will give us 88K in bonus points.
    • The Country Inn & Suites Stay One, Get One Event reached it’s limit for the 44,000 Gold Points bonus. You can still register for the SOGO Event and earn 15,000 bonus points by completing a stay by July 15.
You can also currently save 30% off at select Club Carlson properties. Use code 30PCTOFF to get the discount. I could not find any properties that qualified for this offer near us. This offer is good now until June 12 & June 22 through September 1.
