A Delta Airlines flight that took off for Seoul, South Korea had to head back to the airport soon after takeoff.

Around a half hour after the plane took-off, “a light in the cockpit indicated there possibly was an open maintenance panel on the outside of the aircraft“, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Delta Airlines Flight 159 departed from Detroit around 4:48 PM.

The plane was carrying 375 passengers and had to circle Lake Michigan, dumping fuel for around an hour to “ensure a safe landing“. (The plane landed at around 7:00 PM.)

The Detroit Free Press mentioned that the Delta Airlines plane was going to be looked at by maintenance. The airline was looking into accommodation options for the passengers.
