$50 Statement Credit for Adding Authorized User w/ Citi ThankYou Premier

Citi ThankYou

Earlier in the week I wrote about an offer I received to earn up to 2,500 bonus Citi ThankYou points.

I just received another offer from Citi ThankYou where I can receive a $50 statement credit. Let’s take a look at the offer.

The subject of the e-mail I received was, ” Unlock a $50 statement credit“. I’m pretty sure that all of us like free money so I was curious to see just what this offer might be.

To earn the $50 credit, there’s a couple of things that I’d need to do.

  1. Add an authorized user
  2. Spend $3,000 on purchases by 3/31/17

With the offer I could earn up to one $50 statement credit.

Will I try to earn the statement credit?

Easy answer- DEFINITELY NOT! There is no way in the world that I’m going to put $3,000 in spend on a credit card just to earn a $50 credit. I generally put all of my spend on new credit cards which I am working on earning new bonus offers for. For purchases like office supply stores and cell phone/ cable, I always use my Chase Ink to earn 5X points.

Did you receive this offer from Citi ThankYou? if so, are you interested in earning the statement credit or do you find it to not really be worth it?

  1. I bit, but only because it’s stacked with another minimum spend I was trying to meet for a $200 credit in the year two of having the card.

  2. I received this too. This is a terrible offer. If they want increased spending on the card, just give a free AU.

  3. I got the same email. I’d do it if my authorized user got 4th night free (or 25% off in future) and admirals club access (at least till July). But the only thing authorized users get is priority pass. My folks all get that from other cards. So until Citi gives more of the benefits to authorized users, there’s really no point IMHO.
