There’s been lots of disputes as to which countries hold rights to the South China Seas.

Recently an international “tribunal rejected China’s argument that it enjoys historic rights over most of the South China Sea,” according to the New York Times. China’s been illegally building artificial islands in the area.

Other countries with claims to the area include Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Reuters reports that “Hackers hit Vietnam airports with South China Sea messages“.

Along with airports in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City being attacked, the website of the national airline, Vietnam Airline’s website was also hacked.

The hackers “posted notices that state media said criticized the Philippines and Vietnam and their claims in the South China Sea“.

Due to the hacks, the airports had to stop electronic check-ins briefly on Friday afternoon. Vietnam Airline’s website “directed browsers to bad websites overseas“.
