Back in February I wrote about actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens carving into the Sedona Red Rocks. It looked like she could face some legal trouble- a fine of up to $5,000 or six months in jail.

In April, Hudgen shared the locations of the carvings and the authorities gave her options.

If not for social media, specifically Instagram and the fact that she’s famous, its possible that the carving could’ve gone unnoticed.  Hudgens posted a photo of the carving with the hashtag #sedonadream which was soon after deleted.

The singer/actress got off easy. According to Mashable, Hudgens “has been ordered to pay a $1,000 fine for allegedly carving her and her boyfriend Austin Butler’s name…”

Mashable also mentions that “Hudgens paid the $1,000 fine after being cited for a misdemeanor count of damaging a natural feature on U.S. Forest Service Land according to the AP“.

The $1,000 fine will go towards restoring the rock to its “pristine condition“.

  1. Good to see this happen. Arches National Park is looking for help finding who carved near an arch, these repairs are nearly impossible to repair. At the same time I’m glad it was just a fine.
