Anthony Bourdain Dines with President Obama in Vietnam

Anthony Bourdain

Anthony Bourdain has been very busy recently.

He’ll be going on tour soon, has a financial stake in site Roads & Kingdoms, is working on his upcoming NYC food hall and still hosts his popular CNN show Parts Unknown.

While there’s one place that Bourdain won’t eat, he does eat with some powerful people from time to time.

Yesterday, Anthony Bourdain treated the President of the United States to a cheap meal in Hanoi, Vietnam.

When tweeting about the meal with Obama, Bourdain wrote “Low plastic stool, cheap but delicious noodles, cold Hanoi beer.” In another tweet, Bourdain mentioned that the total cost of dinner with Obama was $6 and he picked up the tab! Wow, what a sport! 🙂

The New York Post mentions that the Travel Channel star and president, “chowed down on a bowl of pho, the traditional Vietnamese noodle soup served with sauces on the side, along with a plate of greens, two appetizers and a Hanoi brew for each of them“.

The Vietnam episode of Bourdain’s show Parts Unknown will air in September 2016.

  1. Ang- It is really cool! You just have to wonder if there are better things our president should be doing than being filmed for a TV show! lol

  2. Such an amazing thing to see the two of them sitting and dining together in a no frills/hole in the wall in SE Asia and having a real conversation like friends.
