The “Back to School” shopping portal bonus offers seem to be getting better and better…
Last week I wrote about a way to Earn Up To 3,500 Bonus Miles with AAdvantage Shopping. Then I wrote about what I felt was a more valuable shopping bonus offer for me. In an almost identical promo you could Earn 3,500 Bonus Rapid Rewards Points with Southwest Shopping.
If neither of these offers appealed to you (or if you happen to prefer United miles), here is a third option.
Now you can earn up to 4,000 bonus award miles with United MileagePlus Shopping.
Along with the bonus miles you can also enter to win 100,000 United miles and $2,500 cash. Three other winners will each win 20,000 miles. Not too shabby…

United Shopping Offer:
One again this United Shopping offer is quite similar to AA and Southwest’s offers although you can earn more with this new option.
The amount of United miles you can earn is tied to how much you spend. It’s pretty simple- the more you spend, the more miles you can earn (up to 4,000).
Based on cumulative spend you can earn:
- Spend $125, earn 500 bonus miles
- Spend $600, earn 1,750 bonus miles
- Spend $1,500, earn 4,000 bonus miles
The Back to School Shopping bonus offer runs through August 12, 2015 at 11:59:59 pm ET.
Comparing United’s bonus offer to AA/ Southwest:
The lowest spending threshold of $125 earns 500 miles/ points is the same for all three programs. United’s middle and top spending tiers call for more spending and earns more bonus miles.
Tier 2:
- With AA & Southwest- spend $500, earn 1,250 miles/ points
- United’s middle tier requires $600 spend but you earn 1,750 miles
Tier 3:
- With AA & Southwest- spend $1,000, earn 3,500 bonus miles/ points
- United max bonus requires spending $1,500, you’ll earn 4,000 miles though.
If I was looking to spend $1,500 through shopping portals (I’m not), I think my plan would be to spend $1,000 with Southwest to earn 3,500 points. I’d then try to spend an additional $600 to earn 1,750 United miles.
That would earn me 5,250 combined bonus miles & points.
