JetBlue To Offer Direct NYC – Cuba Flights

jetblue news

JetBlue announced that it will be offering a direct flight from New York to Havana through its charter partner Cuba Travel Services.

According to the press release, “JetBlue is the first major carrier to announce a new flight to Cuba from New York since travel restrictions were recently eased“.

Along with JetBlue and Cuba Travel Services, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was on hand to announce the new flight.

Cuomo recently got back from a short trip to Cuba where he joined other NY business leaders to look into new business opportunities on the island.

Cuba Travel Services will offer one flight per week operated by JetBlue from New York- (JFK) to Havana (HAV) on Fridays. Service will begin on July 3, 2015.

Here are the flight times:

  • JFK – HAV 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm
  • HAV – JFK 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Those looking to book a spot on one of the charter flights will have to do so directly with Cuba Travel Services, not through the airline itself.

JetBlue will now be offering five weekly roundtrip flights to Cuba with the addition of NYC. They currently offer flights from Tampa (TPA) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) with various charter companies. JetBlue started charter flights to Cuba back in 2011.

I reached out to Cuba Travel Services to get an idea about what the prices of the new flights to Havana might be. However, pricing hadn’t been confirmed yet. I was told that their flight with Sun Country goes for $849 so I’m guessing this is a good idea of what we’d be looking at paying for this new JetBlue flight.
