It’s hard to believe this could even happen…

A 23-year-old woman was on an Air Canada flight on Mother’s Day flying from Calgary to Tokyo when she got the biggest surprise of her life.

Ada Guan started to have stomach pains which had nothing to do with the fact that she was flying. It turned out that she was having labor pains. The craziest part of the situation is that Ada didn’t even know that she was pregnant!

Talk about bad timing for such a big surprise…

According to Yahoo (where I came across this story), “We just thought she had a bad stomach ache, or cramps, or ulcer, or something,” Guan’s boyfriend, Wes Branch, told Canada’s Global News. “Her belly wasn’t even big.

As Guan’s stomach pains increased during the flight, “the flight crew summoned one of the three doctors who happened to be on board to help. That doctor gave Guan an IV and Tylenol, but the pain wouldn’t quit“.

A baby girl named Chloe was born on the flight. The new family is still in Japan since they have to wait a week before the baby can fly.

I just want to know one thing- Will Chloe get free flights for life from Air Canada? I’ve heard rumors in the past that if a baby is born during a flight, some airlines might give them a lifetime flight pass of some sort!

  1. first item that came to mind. Where s the baby a citizen of. I have heard citizenship can depend on where a child is born. I have heard it is not uncommon for Chinese citizens to travel to the U.S. Have a baby and that child has dual citizenship and must make a decision on what passport they carry by age 18. Does this rule only apply to the U.S. Do I even have a clue what I am talking about :-). If the same rules apply to other places is this child a Japanese / Canadian citizen because Japan was the first country they were in.
