Virgin Australia Opening Airport Lounge for Pets

a woman blow drying a dogGood morning from Munich. We’re making our way to Myanmar and just completed our first flight. Next up is a flight to Bangkok before flying an hour or so to Mandalay, the first city we’ll be visiting in Myanmar.

In what I’d assume is a great April Fool’s Day joke, Virgin Australia has announced that they will be opening a dedicated airport lounge for pets!

I came across this in a tweet from Sir Richard Branson, an old friend that I met at the opening of Delta’s T4 at JFK Airport.

Along with news of this new lounge innovation, the airline produced a really funny YouTube video.

The airline says that they fly over 30,000 pets across Australia each year.

After announcing their pets frequent flyer program last year they say that they’ll have the “world’s first dedicated lounge for pets“.

The lounge will have exclusive paw door access, a play park and pre-flight pampering & grooming services offered.

And not to be forgotten, the meal service, “a unique gourmet dining experience“.

So there you have it, the new Virgin Australia dedicated pet lounge. Now I just wonder, will other airlines follow and create their own lounges for furry frequent fliers or is this just a big joke!? 🙂
