With Derek Jeter’s storied career coming to an end this past season, the lifetime Yankee’s shortstop must now have lots of free time.

According to Eater, “Derek Jeter Wants to Be An Airport Restaurant Mogul“.

It’s not like he needs the cash as Jeter has made over $265,000,000 in his career just from playing baseball!

Jeter is the founder of The Player’s Tribune, “a new media platform that will present the voices of professional athletes, bringing fans closer to the games they love than ever before“.

He’s looking to open a restaurant called The Players Tribune Bar & Grill after “submitting a bid to open a 3,439 square-foot sports lounge” (according to Eater) at Tampa International Airport.

According to the article, even though the restaurant would not be called by his famous name, “his presence is definitely felt“. You’ll be able to order the Jeter burger and photos of him will be all over the menu.

I thought it sounded a bit odd for Jeter to consider going into the restaurant business but Eater reminds us that Tiger Woods is spending $8 million on his upcoming place, set to open very soon.

Would Derek Jeter owning a restaurant be a reason for you to want to stop in? I personally wouldn’t care unless the food was supposed to be really good.

On that note, Let’s Go Mets!
