I don’t know what’s going on these days but pilots of personal aircrafts seem to like landing them on highways. Luckily in this most recent incident, nobody was seriously injured.

Last week I wrote about a man landing a plane on the Sunrise Highway in Long Island, NY two times in a period of 8 days. At the beginning of 2014 I wrote about a plane making an emergency landing on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx,  NY.

This time around there was potential for disaster but luckily those involved walked away with minor injuries and “nobody had to be transported to the hospital”.

A small plane with engine trouble was making an emergency landing on a Nevada highway yesterday morning when it  hit a pickup truck while touching down. There were 2 people in each vehicle when the close call occurred.

The accident took place “on a rural, two-lane section of Nevada Route 445 about 20 miles north of Reno”,  Nevada Highway Patrol Lt. Kevin Honea said.

The plane, a Thunder Mustang took off from Reno Stead Airport and was on the way to South Dakota. The plane caught fire and was destroyed. Damage to the pickup was not known.

The plane is sold as a kit and from what I saw on TM’s website, it goes for $297,000. The plane which crashed was assembled in 2011.
