World’s Fastest Growing Airlines

These days there seems to be more and more airlines popping up, bidding for our business. Hopefully over time more competition will equate to better prices on flights. One newer airline has been making it cheaper to fly to Europe, constantly offering really great fares.

Norwegian Air Shuttle has been offering fares to Europe below $500 from select locations in the U.S. While I haven’t flown with them yet, if they keep offering great deals on flights, I can’t see not flying with them at some point in the future.

I came across a very interesting article from International Business Times about The World’s Fastest Growing Airlines.

According to the article, these 10 airlines are gobbling up every new aircraft that Airbus and Boeing can throw at them.

Check out the 10 Airlines:

  • Lion Air
  • Norwegian Air Shuttle
  • IndiGo
  • Spirit Airlines
  • Virgin Australia
  • Turkish Airlines
  • Vueling Airlines
  • All Nippon Airways
  • Pegasus Airlines
  • Emirates

Here are my thoughts on the 3 that we flew:

I’ve flown on three of the airlines from the list of 10. Around 5 years back Kim and I flew out of Atlantic City, NJ to Panama with Spirit. The flight was cheap and I don’t think that we got stuck paying any of their extra fees (luggage, seat selection etc.) that they now charge for.

We flew one flight within Australia on Virgin Australia (when they were known as Virgin Blue) during our honeymoon. I remember being impressed with the airline. This was the only time that we’ve flew on any of the Virgin Airlines.

Turkish Airlines had a great deal to Turkey when we flew with them. The flight doesn’t stand out in my mind in a good or bad way.

Have you flown on many of the world’s fastest growing airlines?

  1. glbetrkkr- Thanks for the info!

bpbindass- I’m a fan of Southwest (at least when we fly for free) so I’d probably like IndiGO!

    Jim- Agreed!

  2. I fly on 6E (Indigo) quite a lot in addition to Virgin and EK.
Indigo is the Indian version of South west in many ways.. No frills and on time!
There is no business class and you need to buy food on board. But decent service and great reach in the Indian domestic scene..

  3. I’ve flown on EK, NH and TK. I flew EK on a 3 hour flt from SYD-CHC and I didn’t want the flight to end. I was just so impressed with the attention to detail onboard, not to mention the comfort. I flew NH from LAX-NRT and really enjoyed their service as well. Seat pitch and width are more generous on long-haul Asian carriers. I enjoyed TK for the nearly 9 hour ride from JFK-IST. Great service and really good food on TK.
