Last week I wrote a post about the 10 Worst Places To Drive In The World according to the Huffington Post.

I don’t usually rent cars when traveling in foreign countries but have done so in a few. While looking over the HuffPost’s list I felt that Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam would’ve been a great addition. While I didn’t rent a car during my visit, Kim and I found it almost impossible to cross the roads due to the crazy amount of cars and even worse- motorbikes. I could only imagine what it would be like to drive there.

A bunch of you commented on my post, calling out the HuffPost for leaving off some pretty awful places to drive like Bangkok, Cairo and Sao Paulo while including others.

I decided that it would be fun to run a poll to see how you guys really felt.

In my poll I asked a couple of questions.

  1. Do you prefer to rent a car or take public transportation while traveling in foreign countries?
  2. In your opinion- What is the worst place to drive in the world?

The results for question #1 were very close but there was an overwhelming winner for worst place to drive in the world.

Here are the results:

1- Both (It just depends on where I will be traveling) won by one vote over my choice, Public Transportation.

a screenshot of a survey2- Mumbai was the overwhelming winner for the worst place to drive in the world.

a screenshot of a pollBased on comments in my original 10 Worst Places To Drive post, I expected Ulaanbaatar and Sao Paulo to place much higher. On the other hand, many people questioned the inclusion of Toronto on the list. In my poll Toronto did not get one vote!

My choice Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam tied for 3rd place with 6 votes.

So now I’m curious to see what you all think of the poll results. Let us know!

  1. I’m surprised that Philadelphia wasn’t an option. The world’s most inconsistent drivers using roads that wouldn’t be out of place in the Congo.
