In a leaked phone call, the top U.S. Diplomat to Europe allegedly can be heard saying “Fuck the EU”.

Victoria Nuland is the Assistant Secretary for European Affairs. In the leaked call, (according to CNN) voices closely resembling those of Assistant Secretary Nuland and U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt discuss a plan to broker a deal between the Ukrainian government and the opposition.

At one point the woman, who sounds like Nuland, can be heard saying “f**k the EU.”

The U.S. is saying that Russia is responsible for the leaked call which was posted to YouTube on February 4.

Why the leak? Supposedly Russia doesn’t like that the U.S. is getting involved with the situation in the Ukraine.

Why the FU to the EU? The article states that Nuland was using profanity to express strong frustrations with inaction and indecision by the European Union in resolving the crisis in Ukraine.
