Fodor’s: 10 Best National Parks To Visit This Winter

a close-up of a logoDuring our travels we haven’t had the opportunity to visit a great deal of National Parks in the United States. I can actually count the number on one hand and have a finger or two left over.

Here are the parks we’ve visited:

On Lucas’ second trip we got to visit Badlands National Park in South Dakota which was pretty amazing. The only problem was not having more time to explore. During our last trip of 2012 to Louisville & Nashville, we visited Mammoth Cave National Park which is the world’s longest cave system. I visited Grand Canyon West with my brother a few years back and got to experience the Skywalk. However the Skywalk is outside the Grand Canyon NP. Our most recent visit to a national park was this past Thanksgiving. During our trip to Florida we got to finally visit the Everglades.

I’d definitely love to visit more of our national parks in the future. I’d like to get to experience more of the amazing natural sights that our great country has to offer.

Fodor’s put out a slideshow of 10 Best National Parks To Visit this Winter back in November. According to Fodor’s, the cold ensures fewer people jostling to take in the views.

Check out the list:

  3. Everglades National Park- Florida
  4. Death Valley National Park- California

  1. Bill in DC- I am not a skier but would love to visit Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons! I’d do a winter visit if it meant avoiding the crowds…

Miles- That is awesome! Do you plan to visit Biscayne?

  2. Yellowstone is the best in winter – way fewer people, great Xcountry skiing. GrandTetons is also nice Xcountry such as Moose to Jenny Lake.
