The Radisson Cyber Monday Steal, A Theft Of People’s Time

Screen Shot 2013-12-02 at 1.04.53 AMI’m not so into the Black Friday or Cyber Monday hype but when I heard about a deal that seemed too good to be true I decided to look into it. I should’ve known not to waste my time.

Cyber Monday travel deals were being talked about all over the internet but one deal really stood out to me.

Radisson was offering a Cyber Monday Steal at the Radisson Blu Warwick Philadelphia.

If the deal worked according to plan, some lucky bargain shoppers would get a room at the recently renovated Radisson Blu Warwick for a great deal. Since the hotel was opened in 1926, some people would get to book rooms for $19.26 per person for one stay of up to 2 nights. The room also came with complimentary breakfast and many extras.

The deal was supposed to go live today, December 2 at 12:00 AM so I made sure to stay awake and have my computer on, ready to book this great deal.

With Philadelphia being so close to NYC, it’s a place that Kim and I like to visit for a weekend getaway.

I was on my computer a few minutes before 12:00 and decided to start doing searches over and over again. The promotional code STEAL was pre-filled on the booking page of the Cyber Monday promo so I figured all I had to do was wait until 12:00 AM and hope to get a room at a great rate.

After about 20-30 minutes of searching I gave up and sent a Tweet to @ClubCarlson and @RadissonBlu.

While I didn’t get a response from Club Carlson or Radisson Blu, I did get one from a fellow deal hunter: dunno why but use “CYBER” and click on promo calendar for dates.

So it turned out that all along myself and many others were trying to book this amazing hotel deal, using the wrong code which was auto-filled by the hotel itself!

After hearing this, I went to do a quick search and came up with one available day- 1/6, a random Monday. I clicked off of the Radisson site, not interested in booking.

This deal by Radisson was a real steal. Anyone staying up late trying to book a room was just robbed of their time.  I know that room availability was limited but I can’t believe that every room was taken while I was searching at 12:00 AM ET, the time the bookings should’ve opened.

In the end what can you do? You win some, you lose some… It would just be nice to see a deal that was so overly hyped have some rooms available at the promo rate.

If you were able to book a room for $19.26 (per person) in the Radisson Cyber Monday Steal, I’d love to hear about it.

  1. I too was robbed of my time with their fake STEAL code. I wasn’t aware that they opened it back again. Do you think I plan to stay at another Radisson Blu again in my life? Not a chance!

    1. Danny- The promo was a big flop but I can’t say that I’ll never stay at a Radisson Blu again. I have lots of points to use + add in having the Club Carlson credit card- this can make for a great redemption!

    1. Congrats on getting in on the deal!

I saw a tweet from Radisson Blu an hour after the deal re-opened. By the time I checked, there were 3-4 random days available which was of no use to me.
