This just might be one of the funniest travel-related stories/ services that I’ve read about in quite some time.

I came across an article online from the South China Morning Post ASIA about a Japanese travel agency that is offering tours for your stuffed toys.

Tokyo based Unagi Travel has a range of offers to suit every cuddly companion’s purse.

Maybe you’re too busy or can’t get off work to travel. Why not send your favorite stuffed animal along to visit some of the amazing sights around Japan?

Screen Shot 2013-12-07 at 2.17.31 AMUnagi Travel offers a variety of tours for your stuffed animals:

  • Kyoto Tour- $95
  • Mystery Tour- $35
  • Tokyo Tour- $45
  • Onsen Tour- $55

The price of the tour does not include transportation to get your stuffed friend to Japan.

Tours Includes:

  • Free coach airfare (airmail) home for your stuffed toy
  • Your stuffed animal will send a handwritten postcard from Tokyo
  • Printed commemorative photo along with the data on a CD-ROM
  • Photos will be uploaded to Unagi Travel’s Facebook page

Insurance is also includedWe will make sure not to have your stuffed animal injured or kidnapped. However, in case of any unfortunate missing incidence, we will compensate up to US$100. We limit the numbers of tour participants to less than 10 stuffed animals so that we can take good care of each one of them. We will not directly place the stuffed animal on the ground, however, we need to touch directly and have them placed on chairs, tables, etc.

Only 10 stuffed animals are allowed on each tour so they won’t be too crowded. About a week to 10 days after the tour ends, your stuffed animal will be sent back to you. Overall, your stuffed animal will be staying in Tokyo 2-3 weeks.

Some bad news. If you’re interested in sending your stuffed animal on a trip to Japan, you might have to wait a while. Unagi Travel wants to have your stuffed friend sent to Japan by December 11, which is just a few days away.
